Freedom FM Imaging – Building a Soundtrack for a New Era on DAB+
When Freedom FM launched on DAB+ in Ireland, it wasn’t just another station joining the multiplex. It was a statement. A new voice. A new energy. A new identity competing in a digital-first environment where listeners have more choice than ever before.
And for me, it was an opportunity to build something from the ground up.
I had the privilege of creating the full suite of audio branding elements for Freedom FM — scoping, structuring and producing hundreds of files to shape the station’s on-air sound. This wasn’t a small imaging package. It was a full sonic architecture designed to give Freedom FM clarity, confidence and consistency from day one.
So the imaging had to:

Instantly identify the brand

Cut through on digital radio

Complement the music rather than overpower it

Work across different dayparts

Be flexible for presenters

Future-proof the station for growth
This wasn’t about “nice sweepers.” It was about building an identity system.
